PARIS INSPIRATION

The inspiration for this map stems from the great urban transformation led in the 19th century by Georges-Eugène Haussmann under the rule of Napoleon III. Haussmann reshaped Paris by opening wide avenues, aligning façades, and creating a city based on perspective, hygiene, and spatial control. His project was not merely aesthetic—it aimed to improve public health, facilitate troop movement, and modernize a congested medieval city. As a notable detail, many of the straight lines admired today were literally drawn on plans using ruler and compass. This map captures that ambition to order the city and to transform urbanism into a more livable form of architecture.
