This sculptural concrete piece emerges as a contemporary reinterpretation of the cat figure in Egyptian culture. Its faceted geometry seeks to capture the balance between calm and alertness, rest and tension, that defines feline nature. Shaped through a handcrafted process and set on a solid oak base, each piece presents subtle variations inherent to its making, reinforcing its unique character. NALA INSPIRATION

For the ancient Egyptians, cats were sacred beings associated with protection, fertility, prosperity, and a connection to the divine. They embodied a powerful duality between gentleness and ferocity, and were primarily linked to the goddess Bastet, protector of the home and family, as well as to the sun god Ra in his battle against the forces of evil. This piece draws inspiration from the sarcophagus of Ta-Mit (Tamit), the cat of Prince Thutmose, eldest son of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, decorated with engravings depicting the cat seated beside a mummified female figure.
